ARC Fund Internship Program 2016
Established in 1991, the Applied Research and Communications Fund (ARC Fund) is the premier Bulgarian think-tank in the area of innovation policy, technology transfer, and smart specialisation. ARC Fund is actively involved in the efforts to shape policies and developments in the innovation domain in a national, regional, European and global context by facilitating innovation and tech-transfer and by policy research and analysis. Throughout the years ARC Fund has helped more than 5,000 firms to start businesses, find local and international clients, partners, or financing, and export technologies on their way to becoming more innovative and competitive.
Internship Summary and Primary Responsibilities
The Applied Research and Communications Fund is now looking for interns for a period of between 8 to 24 weeks, 20 hours per week. The interns will be based in Sofia, 5 Alexander Zhendov St. The interns will work on several EU-funded projects providing research and analytical support and conducting qualitative media monitoring under the direct supervision of a senior staff member. The interns will be provided a working desk and a laptop. The position is unpaid.
The prospective candidates will be in their final year (or will have just graduated from) his or her Bachelor’s or Master’s in the field of public policy, management, organizational development, (technology and) innovation management, economics, business or a related discipline. He or she will be academically proficient – will be able to clearly elaborate research and communicate results in writing, and will comfortably use quoting and referencing styles. The candidate will be ready to work in a multi-lingual environment under pressure with multiple tasks, involving besides reasearch, also administrative help and organisational skills. Knowledge in statistics, econometrics or other quantitative disciplines, along with a proficiency in relevant software, would be considered a strong advantage. At a minimum, candidates should be proficient in the key Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Knowledge of Access would be an advantage, as well as knowledge of R or other analytical programming languages. Candidates will be proficient in English. Knowledge of another European language would be considered an advantage.
The successful candidate will be expected to spend up to 50% of his or her time at ARC Fund reading and reviewing academic articles in subjects such as participatory methods, social responsibility of businesses, innovation, technology assessment, scenario development, future studies. He or she will work on specific project relevant tasks, will draft short reports, letters, policy briefs, as well as other corporate communications.
ARC Fund offers work at flexible hours as well as work from home opportunities. No credit hours can be given, but a certificate of accomplishment will be awarded upon successful completion of the internship. Please note that selection for this internship does not constitute a job offer. However, if an open position is available at the end of the internship, and the intern’s performance has been positively evaluated, the intern would be considered as a priority candidate, if interested.
