Innovations and competitiveness
In 2010 the European Commission adopted its "Europe 2020" strategy as an important tool for finding solutions for competitiveness and innovation capabilities of the European economy, climate change, limited energy resources, aging and health. Bulgaria made ambitious commitments by adopting the National Reform Programme (2010-2013), including measures in the field of innovation for reaching the R&D investment target of 1.5% of GDP in 2020, coupled with a better business environment.

Forth year in a row over 3 000 families gather at the annual Famillathlon
On May 12 the annual Famillathlon took place for the forth time, organized by Association Parents, the National Safer Internet Centre, the National Centre for Youth Programs and Initiatives and the Municipality of Sofia. Over 3 000 families participated in the numerous activities and competitions to celebrate family, sports, creativity and healthy lifestyle.

Working meeting on “Parliamentary Technology Assessment – Perspectives for Development in Bulgaria”
On 20 April 2012, the Applied Research and Communications Fund hosted a working meeting under the title “Parliamentary Technology Assessment: Perspectives for Development in Bulgaria”. The discussion was held within the Parliaments and Civil Society in Technology Assessment project (PACITA), supported under the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development.

SIC organized several trainings in Northern Bulgaria
Bulgarian SIC experts organised a series of trainings in towns in Northern Bulgaria, initiated by local public organisations and NGOs. More than 60 young people and 35 professionals who work to promote the safe and responsible use of internet and mobile devices participated in the sessions.

Working meeting on “Parliamentary Technology Assessment – Perspectives for Development in Bulgaria”, April 20th 2012, Sofia
The Applied Research and Communications Fund will host a working meeting under the title “Parliamentary Technology Assessment – Perspectives for Development in Bulgaria”, which will take place on Friday, April 20th 2012. Participants include Members of Parliament, Heads of departments from several Ministries, experts from the Presidency, as well as scientists, journalists, civil society organizations and industry representatives.
